Q: What film inspired you to start a career as a filmmaker?
A: After I saw the Italian neo-realist films, which address issues linked to the life of the Chinese, I had a strong desire to become a director, hoping to offer these people an opportunity to cry.
Q: Did you make The Blinding Sunlight with a specific audience in mind?
A: I hope to show the world the real China and help people understand it.
Q: What memorable events happened during the production of The Blinding Sunlight?
A: I encountered many problems during the filming process, especially the lack of funds, which almost led to the interruption of the movie. I struggled to overcome these difficulties, but everything turned out great because the film will now be presented at the Chicago International Film Festival!
Q: What did you learn from working on The Blinding Sunlight?
A: I spent a great amount of time studying the film creation process and watching a lot of movies, which helped me establish how I wanted to approach the making of my film.
