Synopsis:
A dark psychological thriller, A Pact tells the twisted story of a contentious love triangle. As teenagers, Paul tricked Georg into handing over his girlfriend Anna to him. Georg agrees, on the condition that he can have her back whenever he wishes. After decades of silence, when Anna and Paul have a family together, Georg suddenly re-appears. Strange things start happening to Paul, and it soon becomes clear that Georg has not forgotten the pact.

Biography

Denis Dercourt was born in Paris in 1964. He spent part of his youth living with German relatives near Stuttgart. At university he studied music, politics and philosophy. From 1988 to 1993 he was the first solo violist with the Orchestre Symphonique Francais. From 1993 to 2012 he was a professor at the Conservatoire in Strasburg. He is bilingual and has lived with his family in Berlin since 2010. Denis Dercourt came to international attention as a writer and director with the films “Demain dès L’aube” and “La tourneuse de pages” (“The Page Turner”), both of which were featured in the official programme of the Cannes Film Festival. In 2007, the latter film had a very successful run in German cinemas under the title “Das Mädchen, das die Seiten umblättert”. “Zum Geburtstag” (“A Pact”) is his first German-language film.
