“Flight” by Director Robert Zemeckis To Receive Founder's Award

CHICAGO (October 22, 2012) - The 48th Chicago International Film Festival will present the Founder’s Award to acclaimed filmmaker and Chicagoan Robert Zemeckis and his latest movie “Flight” on Closing Night, October 25 at 7 p.m. at the AMC River East 21 (322 E. Illinois St.). The Founder’s Award is given to that one film across all categories that capture the spirit of the Chicago International Film Festival for its unique and innovative approach to the art of the moving image.
'Flight' has all the ingredients that make for a perfect production: a compelling story, excellent performances from a great ensemble cast and Mr. Zemeckis’ bold direction. It delivers at all levels. 'Flight' is unpredictable, memorable, a winner!,” said Michael Kutza, Founder and Artistic Director of the Chicago International Film Festival.
Last year’s recipient of the Founder’s Award was The Artist (France), director Michel Hazanavicius’ delightfully romantic comedy about silent cinema and the introduction of sound.
