The Chicago International Film Festival is very excited to welcome the director of Diane, Kent Jones. Mary Kay Place (The Big Chill, Big Love) delivers a stunning career-best performance as Diane, a woman weighed down by the simmering guilt of a past transgression. Now, after years of regret, Diane spends her days helping others and trying to save her drug-addled son. Variety called the film “a powerful meditation on guilt and loneliness.”

Critic-turned-filmmaker Kent Jones won the best narrative feature and best American narrative screenplay at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival for Diane. “It’s semi-autobiographical,” said Jones. “It’s not just about the atmosphere of a small town living. It’s about the configurations it takes. How people are always lending each other casserole dishes or cooking for each other when they get sick. It’s about capturing the way people speak and what they say.” (Variety)
Kent Jones is scheduled to attend the screening on Monday, October 15 at 9:00pm. Diane also screens on Tuesday, October 16 at 6:00pm.
