Chicago International Film Festival to Receive Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

We’re thrilled to announce that Cinema/Chicago has been approved for a $25,000 Art Works grant to support the 56th Chicago International Film Festival taking place October 14-25, 2020. This grant will support the Festival and related programming including Industry Days and Cinema/Chicago’s free Summer Screenings Program.

The Art Works funding category supports projects that focus on public engagement with, and access to, various forms of excellent art across the nation; the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence; learning in the arts at all stages of life; and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life.

“The arts are at the heart of our communities, connecting people through shared experiences and artistic expression,” said Arts Endowment chairman Mary Anne Carter. “The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support projects like the Chicago International Film Festival.”

“We are grateful and honored for the continued support of the National Endowment for the Arts,” said Vivian Teng, Managing Director of the Chicago International Film Festival. “The Art Works grant allows us to continue to bring international and independent cinema to Chicago, contributing to our vibrant arts community, as well as to give the younger generation access to the art of film through our supported education programs.”

North America’s longest running competitive film festival, the Chicago International Film Festival celebrates its 56th edition in 2020. Taking place over October 14-25, 2020, the Festival will present more than 170 films from more than 60 countries and additional programming including panel discussions, education programs, and Industry Days, the Festival’s four day conference for filmmakers and industry professionals to connect, share ideas, and be inspired. Cinema/Chicago’s free Summer Screenings Program, in partnership with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, presents weekly screenings of films from around the world at the Chicago Cultural Center from May through September.
