CLIMATES

Director: Nuri Bilge Ceylan
42nd Chicago International Film Festival

Inimitable auteur Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Climates is a masterful study of human emotion and behavior. A couple’s marriage begins to fray while they vacation in a small fishing village on summer holiday. An accumulation of subtle indiscretions suggest deep, unspoken fissures in their relationship. Rendered with striking metaphorical clarity and a stunning sense for visual poetry, the film’s atmosphere teems with pains unspoken and passions unsaid. – Sam Flancher, Programmer
