The Chicago International Film Festival is very excited to welcome the writer, producer, and lead actress of Olympia, McKenzie Chinn. Featuring quirky animation and a revelatory central performance, Olympia is a heartfelt story for anyone who’s ever felt adrift on the rough seas of adulthood. Director Gregory Dixon, producer Sarah Sharp, and actor Charles Andrew Gardner are also scheduled to attend.

Chicago Tribune reporter Nina Metz interviewed Chinn about her writing process, the need for strong black female leads in film, and discussed the influence Chicago had on the filmmaking. “What I love about shooting in Chicago, it’s kind of a cool thing to the people around you, so they’ll respect your space. Whereas in LA, everybody and their cousin is making a movie, and they truly do not care about your film set. You’re inconveniencing them. Whereas in Chicago, it’s still novel enough to be fun for people who aren’t involved,” Chinn said. CLICK HERE for the full interview.

Olympia screens Monday, October 15 @ 5:30pm, Tuesday, October 16 @ 8:45, and Friday, October 19 @ 1:00pm. All screenings are at AMC River East (322 E. Illinois).
