The Chicago International Film Festival is very excited to welcome the star of Sibel, Damla Sönmez to this year’s festival! Sönmez is a Turkish actress and an award-winning actor of international distinction. She has been acting since she was young and her career is still growing.

Attending Filmmaker: Joe Chappelle

Director Joe Chappelle is scheduled to attend this year’s Festival for the world premiere of his film, An Acceptable Loss. The film was written and directed by Chappelle and stars Tika Sumpter and Jamie Lee Curtis. Joe Chappelle is known for his work on shows like The Wire and Chicago Fire. We are very excited to welcome Chappelle, who has worked in film and television for over 2o years. Producer Colleen Griffen is also scheduled to attend.

The Chicago International Film Festival has added two films to our 2018 lineup!

Fresh off its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Vox Lux stars Natalie Portman and Jude Law and is directed by Brady Corbet. The film begins in 1999 with teenage sisters Celeste and Eleanor, who survive a violent tragedy. The sisters transform their grief into something great by performing and composing a song about their experience – while also catapulting Celeste into stardom. Tributes Announced Including Carey Mulligan in Centerpiece Film Wildlife

The 54th Chicago International Film Festival, presented by Cinema/Chicago, today announced Tributes to actress Carey Mulligan in conjunction with this year’s  Centerpiece film Wildlife, and costume designer Ruth Carter as part of the Festival’s annual Black Perspectives Program. Additionally, acclaimed director and Chicago native William Friedkin will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at a special tribute event during the Festival, including the North American premiere of the new documentary Friedkin Uncut.[…]
