BEST OF THE FEST PROGRAM FOR 53RD CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FEATURES HUGO-WINNERS AND AUDIENCE FAVORITES OCTOBER 25-26!

Mimi Plauché, the Artistic Director of the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival, today announced the line-up for the Best of the Fest program, featuring several of the Festival’s award-winning films, including the Festival’s top winner, A Sort of Family, (Gold Hugo, International Feature Competition), No Date, No Signature (Gold Hugo, New Directors Competition), Birds are Singing in Kigali (Silver Hugo, Best Director and Silver Hugo Best Actresses), Killing Jesús (Roger Ebert Award winner), The Other Side of the Wall (Gold Hugo, International Documentary Competition) and BPM (Gold Q-Hugo).[…]

DATE CHANGES:

• Call Me by Your Name
  The Monday, 10/23 screening of Call Me by Your Name has been moved to Wednesday, 10/25 at 8 p.m.

SCREENINGS ADDED:

• Blow Up
  An additional screening of Blow Up will feature Vanessa Redgrave in attendance on Monday, 10/16 at 2:30 p.m.

RECENTLY ADDED FILMS:

• The Ballad of Lefty Brown
  The Ballad of Lefty Brown will screen on Monday, 10/23 at 8 p.m.

The two films slated for the Festival’s Centerpiece and Closing Night are Greta Gerwig’s solo directorial debut, Lady Bird, to be screened on Wednesday, October 18 and the Closing Night presentation, Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, which was recently honored with the Golden Lion at the 2017 Venice Film Festival, with a special tribute to star Michael Shannon, an actor with deep Chicago roots.
