IPA is a professional development and mentorship program for emerging Chicago-area independent filmmakers and media entrepreneurs. This apprenticeship program is an opportunity to cultivate the next generation of independent film and media makers and producers through both hands-on experience working on an independent production in Chicago and through mentorship and participation in Industry Days at the 54th Chicago International Film Festival. 53rd Festival — Top Audience Awards Winners
The Chicago International Film Festival today announces Festival Audience Award winners and top highlights from the 53rd edition of the annual film festival. Calculated by votes directly from Festival-goers, the Audience Award for Best English-language feature goes to Reginald Hudlin’s Marshall (U.S.). Celebrated filmmaker Márta Mészáros’ Aurora Borealis (Hungary) takes home the best foreign-language Audience Award honor; in documentaries, Jairus McLeary and Gethin Aldous’s poignant The Work (U.S.) takes the Audience Award honor. And the Audience Award for Best Short Film is presented to Kapitalistis (France, Belgium), written and directed by Pablo Munoz Gomez.[…]

Films from Argentina, Poland, Senegal, Iran, Colombia, Spain, and the U.S. Receive Top Honors at Awards Ceremony
The Chicago International Film Festival hosted an awards presentation, sponsored by Sound Investment AV, at the AMC River East 21, celebrating the films that chosen by the Festival juries to receive awards. Prizes were awarded to films in the following categories: International Competition; New Directors Competition; International Documentary Competition; Out-Look Competition; The Chicago Award; and Short Film Competition.
Taking home the top prize, the Gold Hugo, in the International Feature Film Competition, is Argentinian director Diego Lerman’s A Sort of Family, the story of a doctor’s desperate journey to adopt a baby girl, which had its U.S.
