Special Screening of Hirokazu Kore-eda’s THE TRUTH

Due to increasing travel uncertainties, director Hirokazu Kore-eda will no longer be able to come to Chicago. We look forward to welcoming director Kore-eda to Chicago at some point in the future to pay tribute to his career and present a retrospective of his work at that time.

We will still present our special preview screening of THE TRUTH on Sunday March 15. We are working on coordinating a recorded on-screen conversation with the director after the screening of the film. […]

Managing Director Vivian Teng Named to DCASE Cultural Advisory Council

We’re thrilled to announce that our very own Managing Director, Vivian Teng, has been appointed to the City of Chicago’s Cultural Advisory Council!

The Chicago City Council approved the appointments made by Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot to the Cultural Advisory Council of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), including Council Chair Amina J. Dickerson and Vice Chair Alison Cuddy.

“A robust Chicago arts community inspires us, engages us, questions the status quo, and has the power to bring our diverse city together in conversation around the critical challenges of our day,” said Mayor Lightfoot.

Chicago International Film Festival to Receive Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

We’re thrilled to announce that Cinema/Chicago has been approved for a $25,000 Art Works grant to support the 56th Chicago International Film Festival taking place October 14-25, 2020. This grant will support the Festival and related programming including Industry Days and Cinema/Chicago’s free Summer Screenings Program.

The Art Works funding category supports projects that focus on public engagement with, and access to, various forms of excellent art across the nation; the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence; learning in the arts at all stages of life; and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life.[…]
