Attending Filmmaker: McKenzie Chinn

The Chicago International Film Festival is very excited to welcome the writer, producer, and lead actress of Olympia, McKenzie Chinn. Featuring quirky animation and a revelatory central performance, Olympia is a heartfelt story for anyone who’s ever felt adrift on the rough seas of adulthood. Director Gregory Dixon, producer Sarah Sharp, and actor Charles Andrew Gardner are also scheduled to attend.

The Chicago International Film Festival is very excited to welcome the director of Diane, Kent Jones. Mary Kay Place (The Big Chill, Big Love) delivers a stunning career-best performance as Diane, a woman weighed down by the simmering guilt of a past transgression. Now, after years of regret, Diane spends her days helping others and trying to save her drug-addled son. Variety called the film “a powerful meditation on guilt and loneliness.”

Attending Filmmaker: William Friedkin

Oscar®-winning, Chicago-born director William Friedkin will be attending the Chicago International Film Festival to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition is the North American premiere of Friedkin Uncut, the illuminating documentary showing the director’s unwavering commitment to rawness and realism across his career, from The French Connection (1972) to Killer Joe (2011).

Attending Editor: Aaron Wickenden

The Chicago International Film Festival is very excited to welcome the editor of They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead, Aaron Wickenden. The documentary that chronicles the last 15 years of Orson Welles life. The film stars Peter Bogdanovich, Steve Ecclesine, and Oja Kodar, to name a few.  The documentary is also being screened in conjunction with Welles’s last film ever produced, The Other Side Of The Wind.
