Movie Lovers: A Wild Year in Screen Romance

For decades, love stories were a premier genre of popular moviemaking. As superhero epics and action spectaculars consume more of the market, studios bet less often on romance, or outsource it to TV studios and streaming originals. But love is out there if you know where to look, and over the last year, some adventurous artists found new ways to infuse classic archetypes (outlaw lovers, youthful infatuation, steamy triangles) with contemporary resonance and flavorful style. Join us to savor some of this year’s most popular, surprising, and creatively accomplished big-screen romances. Bring a date!

Recommended viewing: Anora, Challengers, or Love Lies Bleeding, all available on major streaming services

Please note: The discussion does not include screenings of films.
